LCDR Barron
Lieutenant Commander Richard (Dick) Barron served our country from 1963 - 1983 as a Naval Officer through 2 tours in Vietnam.
Arlington
His service qualified him for burial at a National Cemetery - he selected Arlington due to its proximity to family.
Caravan
We met at the Administration Building an hour before the service start time.
Front Row
They were expecting us and had an entire row reserved for us in the parking lot.
Gathering
Family gathered in the shade while Nancy and I worked through the details of the service.

Full Honors
His rank qualified him for a full, military funeral.
Dedication
It was VERY hot and humid, but his Naval colleagues still dressed in their summer whites.
The Transfer
They transferred his cremains from the car to the coffin in a very detailed and courteous manner.
All Set
The Navy's Ceremonial Guard did a FABULOUS job of honoring Dad and us through the process.
Buttoned Up
We're ready to escort him to his burial site.
Reflection
It was an emotional experience.

The band broke formation and headed up to lead the procession.

We were instructed to remain 30 feet behind as we walked to the service location.

The Ceremonial Guard took a minute to straighten their uniforms before arriving at the service location.

It was hot and sticky but the walk was brief.

Bringing Dad and his honorary flag to the site of the service.

There was a little shade for a few in the party.

Arlington Ladies
The woman with the sailor in a previous photo is a representative of the Arlington Ladies and presented Mom, Nancy and I with condolences from the Chief of Naval Operations.
